We have the pleasure of welcoming you to Aurora Passero's first solo exhibition at Galleri Haaken. Critically acclaimed Aurora Passero (b. 1984) is best known for her monumental installations that lie in the field between sculpture and painting. Passero works site-specifically and composes the singular works in relation to each other and to the architecture they are situated in.

Included in the current exhibition Channel Units are new, larger and smaller works in woven and coloured nylon, as well as a group of sculptures, Batteries, in pale white gypsum. The exhibition title itself points - in an open manner - to different readings, but could as an example be translated as “passages between independent units”. The assembly of words suggests a form of poetic anarchism, which also reflects several aspects of Passero's working process. She consistently and freely digs in to her surroundings and is stimulated by an eclectic blend of impressions. Among inspirations in the art wold, Franz West and Wolfgang Tillmanns are mentioned.

In extension of the exhibition Channel Units, Aurora Passero is publishing her second artist book. Throughout the book, which mainly consists of Passero's own photography, the audience is given a chance to follow the artist's constantly investigating look.

Aurora Passero (b. 1984) lives and works in Oslo, Norway. She studied at the National Academy of Visual Arts in Oslo and at the Glasgow School of Art. Latest exhibitions include Hengende Hager / Hanging Gardens, Grenland Kunsthall, NN-A, NN-A, NN-A, Astrup Fearnley Museum of Modern Art, Europe, Europe, Astrup Fearnley Museum of Modern Art, Young Techno, La Confection Ideale, Tourcoing, Tusen Tråder / A Throusand Threads, Lillehammer Kunstmuseum, Untitled Art Fair Miami, Norwegian Sculpture Biennial, Vigeland Museet, 24 Spaces / represented by 1857, Malmö Konsthall, I tråd med tiden, Haugar Vestfold Kunstmuseum, Ivory Tactics, Kunstnerforbundet and Glasgow International Festival of Visual Art 2012.
